Founder & Principal · MBA, PCC
An executive and team leadership coach and workshop facilitator serving for-profit and non-profit organizations worldwide — accelerating the growth of 21st-century leaders and teams to drive systemic, sustainable change.
Joy is a professional executive and team leadership coach and workshop facilitator, serving both for-profit and non-profit global organizations. Her passion is to accelerate the growth of 21st-century leaders and teams in order to drive systemic and sustainable change at the enterprise-wide level and in society at large.
Joy believes that leadership begins with self. Her coaching philosophy is grounded in developing expanded self-awareness — the number-one predictor of executive success and life fulfillment. She is passionate about building the capacity to live and lead in ever-growing presence, so that leaders can make intentional choices that support their key imperatives. Her human-centered approach develops the skills and competencies needed to lead in the 21st century: agility, resilience, empathy, deep listening, critical thinking, curiosity, creativity, and above all, the ability to live and lead in ever-growing presence.
Joy has been a successful Vice President in the non-profit sector, with P&L responsibilities in the millions and substantial experience in business strategy, business development, volunteer leadership engagement, board governance, fundraising, and marketing.
She enjoyed a successful career as Vice President of Executive Education at Thunderbird School of Global Management, where she worked with for-profit clients including American Express, Marsh, Grupo Alfa, Chase Card Services, Intel China, and Cisco — collaborating on the design and delivery of powerful executive development engagements. In the non-profit sector, key clients served include the IFRC, World Wildlife Fund, The Global Fund, UNICEF, ProMujer, and Acumen Fund, among many others.
Previously, as Vice President of Thunderbird's Alumni Relations, she globalized the Thunderbird Alumni Network — over 40,000 highly mobile individuals across 140 countries, working in 15,000 corporations worldwide. She also served as a corporate foundation relations officer and major gifts officer at Thunderbird, contributing to the success of two capital campaigns.
Joy also served as Executive Director of the Phoenix Bach Choir (now the Phoenix Chorale), leading the organization from a community group to a professional vocal ensemble — now a three-time Grammy Award-winning choir.
Joy currently serves as an Arizona State Co-Coordinator for Braver Angels, a grassroots volunteer organization committed to depolarizing America by finding common ground through civil discourse.
She served on the ICF Arizona Board from 2017–2020 (President-Elect, President, and Immediate Past President).
Joy also maintains a commitment to select pro bono coaching, offering her expertise in service to the Humanitarian Coaching Network (which supports UNOPS) and United for Growth (ICF Arizona). She has served as a coach and mentor for the Thunderbird Dreamcatchers Program in collaboration with Freeport-McMoRan, and as a mentor in Thunderbird's Project Artemis: The Goldman Sachs 10,000 Women Program.
Joy earned a Global MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management (with an emphasis in marketing). Her undergraduate degree is from Bowling Green State University (a double major in German and Spanish, with a minor in piano). She has lived and worked in Austria, Spain, and Italy, and has traveled throughout the world serving her diverse client base.
In 2018, Joy earned the designation of Certified Presence-Based® Coach under the thought leadership of the late Doug Silsbee and Beatrice Hanson. She earned her Professional Certified Coach (PCC) credential with the International Coach Federation (ICF) in 2019, renewed in March 2022 and again in March 2025. In 2025, she also became certified as a Time to Think Coach and Facilitator. In the spirit of lifelong learning, Joy pursues ongoing coursework and certifications to support her personal and professional mastery.
